Dogon country is definately one of the highlights of West-Africa and absolutely worth a visit.
The main thing you will want to do is hike to a number of villages on the escarpment, with a local guide and get to know the people and the way they have lived here for centuries. For details about different possibilties, see Dogon Country/hiking. In all cases it is best to stay at least one night in one of the villages, but it is also possible to to it as a daytrip. In that case Bankas on the Mopti to Burkina Faso road is your best starting point.
